BBS Travel Bursary

Submission Deadline: Rolling deadline, application must be submitted at least 1 month before the meeting of interest.

BBS can provide funds of up to £400 for travel support to UK-based early career BBS members (undergraduate, postgraduate, or first three years postdoc) who are attending meetings associated with biophysics. Students/Postdocs wishing to be considered for a travel bursary should complete the application form and return with a letter of recommendation from your supervisor and a copy of the abstract of your poster/oral presentation. Awards will be based on merit and significance of the work to the field of biophysics, and will be paid after the meeting. Bursaries are awarded at the discretion of the Honorary Treasurer.

If successful, the awardee must include the BBS logo on the poster / oral presentation acknowledging the funding provided.

  1. Completed BBS Bursary Application form
  2. A copy of the abstract submitted for presentation at the meeting of interest
  3. A letter of recommendation from your supervisor (must be signed and on institutional letterhead).

Transition rules:

Between 1st July 2023 and 1st July 2024 only bursaries for members who joined before 30th June 2023 will be considered. After that, 12 months membership will be required.

BBS bursaries for Biophysics Weeks events

The BBS invites applications from University Student Societies for a limited number of bursaries (maximum value £200) to support a Biophysics Week event.
