BBS Travel Bursary

Submission Deadline: Rolling deadline, application must be submitted at least 1 month before the meeting of interest.

BBS can provide funds of up to £400 for travel support to UK-based early career BBS members (undergraduate, postgraduate, or first three years postdoc) or tehchnicians who are attending meetings associated with biophysics. Anyone wishing to be considered for a travel bursary should complete the application form and return with a letter of recommendation from your supervisor or line manager and a copy of the abstract of your poster/oral presentation. Awards will be based on merit and significance of the work to the field of biophysics, and will be paid after the meeting. Bursaries are awarded at the discretion of the Honorary Treasurer.

If successful, the awardee must include the BBS logo on the poster / oral presentation acknowledging the funding provided and provide a short 200 word report for the BBS newsletter..

  1. Completed BBS Bursary Application form
  2. A copy of the abstract submitted for presentation at the meeting of interest
  3. A letter of recommendation from your supervisor/line manager (must be signed and on institutional letterhead).

BBS bursaries for Biophysics Weeks events

The BBS invites applications from BBS members for a limited number of bursaries to support a Biophysics Week event.

The applicant must:
  • Not have received a BBS bursary in the year before the application;
  • Include the BBS logo on all presentation material
  • Provide a 200 word report after the event, to be included in the BBS newsletter
